PeerTube sử dụng công nghệ WebTorrent giúp giảm tải băng thông P2P.

PeeerTube hoạt động theo kiểu mạng xã hội liên hợp, mỗi người dùng là thành viên của một hệ thống máy chủ độc lập. Mỗi máy chủ độc lập có một hoặc nhiều quản trị viên riêng.

PeerTube cũng sử dụng giao thức ActivityPub để tương tác với các nền tảng fediverse khác.[14][19]
